ACR Updates
ACR Launches Appropriate Imaging Website
Dear ACR Member:
The ACR is pleased to announce the launch of the Medical Excellence in Diagnostic Imaging Campaign (MEDIC). This new initiative is designed to educate the public, media, physicians, and government officials that by establishing quality and safety standards for medical imaging providers and facilities, Medicare (and American taxpayers) can save billions of dollars while improving quality of care.
You are invited to visit the new MEDIC Web site, www.QualityImaging.org, where you will find a repository of information, government reports, and peer-reviewed studies illustrating how inappropriate imaging lowers quality of care and how the cost associated with unnecessary tests threatens the solvency of Medicare/Medicaid and drains the health care system of billions of dollars annually.
The site also explains the important role that radiologists serve in providing quality patient care and how you can help protect quality care for our nation's seniors while lowering health care costs.
Log on to www.QualityImaging.org and enter the password "teamwork" to join the effort to ensure that Medicare recipients receive the highest quality care from the most qualified providers.
Sincerely,
James P. Borgstede
Chair, American College of Radiology Board of Chancellors
