History Project

The Alabama Academy of Radiology was founded and incorporated September 19, 1975.

The organization was founded by Drs. Edgar W. Branyon (Anniston), Walter J. Brower (Cullman), James E. Campbell (Huntsville), Sam Crabtree (Anniston), Laurence E. Fetterman (Mobile), L.C. Hamilton (Fairhope), Edward R. Meadows (Birmingham), and Lowery R. Young (Huntsville). The incorporation was witnessed by Myrtle Green, Judge of Probate. The location of incorporation was the city of Huntsville, County of Madison, in the state of Alabama. The current office of the AAR is located in Wetumpka, Alabama a suburb of the City of Montgomery. The AAR has 338 active members and 75 members in training for a total of 413 members as of September 1, 2006.
