AAR Legislative Committee Report

The AAR plans to make its Legislative Initiative the focus of its efforts in 2006.

This committee is chaired by the capable Mark LeQuire, MD. The AAR plans to expand both its statewide and national legislative efforts during the next year.  This initiative will include a proposal for the AAR to form a political action committee.  The name of this committee will be ALRAD PAC.  Please review the proposal document provided below.  This proposal is available for comment.  The AAR Executive Committee recommends the adoption of this proposal.  The proposal will be presented for discussion and approval by the AAR membership at the Annual Meeting of the Alabama Academy of Radiology Business Session scheduled for April 29th, 2006 at the Wynfrey Hotel, Birmingham, Alabama.  If you have comments and/or are interested in becoming more involved with the initiative and the committee contact the AAR.

In addition, we have included in this section a variety of informational documents concerning Legislative Issues affecting the Radiology profession.  Please refer to the Links section for web sites providing additional information about elected Alabama officials, legislative issues and governmental agencies at the state and federal levels.

The AAR makes it a priority to represents its membership on legislative issues both at the local and national levels. Representatives of the AAR serve in this role during meeting with members of Congress at the ACR Annual Meeting and the MASA Governmental Affairs Meeting each held annually in Washington, D.C.

The AAR considers political activism an important part of its mission.  Members are encouraged to become familiar with their legislatures and other elected officials. Everyone agrees that Politics are local.  Accordingly we hope that you will consider becoming involved as a Grassroots member and Key Contact person of the AAR and the ACR.
